Tanjung Tualang
Tanjung Tualang is a mukim in Kinta District, Perak, Malaysia.
History[edit]
It was originally one of the major tin-mining towns in Malaysia around early 1900'. Get it names from Tualang tree or Toh Allang Chinese Tin Ltd.
Government[edit]
The mukim is under the administration of Batu Gajah District Council.
Tanjung Tualang is also famous for its freshwater prawns which in turn giving the Tanjung Tualang a nickname (Freshwater Prawn Town). Places like Sungai Durian is promoted for its famous freshwater prawns.

Macrobrachium rosenbergii, also known as the giant river prawn or giant freshwater prawn, is a commercially important species of palaemonid freshwater prawn. It is found throughout the tropical and subtropical areas of the Indo-Pacific region, from India to Southeast Asia and Northern Australia.[2] The giant river prawn has also been introduced to parts of Africa, Thailand, China, Japan, New Zealand, the Americas and the Caribbean.[3] It is one of the biggest freshwater prawns in the world and is widely cultivated in several countries for food.[2] While M. rosenbergii is considered a freshwater species, the larval stage of the animal depends on brackish water.[4] Once the individual shrimp has grown beyond the planktonic stage and becomes a juvenile, it will live entirely in freshwater.[4]
